"When a woman treats a man as her equal, he endangers himself if he thinks she is naive or stupid." - Yolanda López

Artist Yolanda López feminist focus brought an increasingly experimental approach to issues of representation.   Her work, Three Generations: Tres Mujeres and Other Portraits are a series of larger-than-life drawings of the artist, her mother, and her grandmother, appearing in a variety of casual poses, which López did not intend to be seen as "precious portraits" but "icons' on par with the pantheon male heroes often featured in Chicano murals of the mid-1970s era.
